Description

Perfect Christmas gift for a Sampson Mordan collector, this lovely Sampson Mordan silver propelling pencil and dip pen.

The propelling pencil 4&1/2 inches (11.4cm) when fully extended and consists of a green hardstone (although the colour is hard to capture photographically) seal screw on terminal extending to a hollow shaft functioning as a lead reservoir. The shaft is fitted with two sliders, one extending the pencil component and the second extending the dip pen nib. The propelling pencil carries full English hallmarks for London 1873, along with the makers mark for Sampson Mordan, and also carries the S.Mordan & Co mark for the post 1860 Sampson Mordan period.

The propelling pencil and dip pen is in a very good condition although the hallmarks are easily legible but a little worn. It is being sold with its nib.
