Description

Antique Italian painting from the first half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a religious subject, Adoration of Saint Rose of Lima with the Madonna and Child Jesus. A large, striking painting, adorned with a beautifully decorated, modern, carved, and gilded (bronze-tinted) wooden frame. The painting unfolds vertically, with Saint Rose kneeling and receiving a caress from the baby Jesus.

On the right, an angel observes the scene with roses in his hands, a symbol of purity associated with the Saint's name. The Madonna, with a loving gaze, gently holds out her son to the Saint (see photo). The painting has undergone extensive conservative restoration, including relining, replacement of the stretcher, and repainting in several areas (see photo). Overall, the painting is in fair condition with signs of restoration. Internal dimensions: H 133 x W 108 cm.
