Antique Italian painting from the late 17th century. Oil on canvas (glued to masonite, while being restored), artwork depicting a religious subject, Saint Jerome, of good pictorial quality. This beautifully sized and striking painting is adorned with a non-contemporary frame in wood and plaster, carved and gilded. It is a vertically oriented artwork of good proportions and would easily fit into any room in the home.

This painting was previously attributed to the Tuscan painter Giovanni Camillo Sagrestani (1660-1731), but no expert opinion is available. An art historical expert opinion can be requested at the time of purchase (service fee not included in the price contact us for a quote). The painting has undergone conservative restoration, including the application of the canvas to a masonite panel, replacement of the stretcher, and repainting in several areas. Overall, the painting is in good condition. Internal dimensions: H 94 x W 70 cm.
