Antique 18th-century Italian painting. Oil on canvas, first canvas, artwork depicting a rural genre scene set in an idealized countryside landscape. The composition's focal point is the large watermill located along the river. The scene is enlivened by several figures in the foreground: two women and a man, dressed in peasant clothing, approach a fishmonger.

Meanwhile, a fisherman can be seen on the riverbank, while on the bridge, travelers on foot and on horseback prepare to cross. The composition is balanced and airy, constructed along a diagonal that draws the eye to the open landscape in the background, where a fortified village can be glimpsed. The sky occupies a significant portion of the canvas, and thanks to the aerial perspective technique, the scene gains surprising depth. The palette is clear and harmonious, with soft greens, warm ochres, and milky blues, while the light is diffused, creating a serene atmosphere.
