Antique Papier Mache and Mahogany Revolving Harpis

Description
A very decorative antique Harpist music stool dating to the first half of the 19th Century. This wonderful and rare adjustable revolving music stool rises and lowers to a comfortable height.The japanned papier mache seat, of scalloped shell form, has a centrally carved floral motif, which is also replicated on the supporting solid mahogany carved base. A turned canon centre column with a cross stretcher unites the cabriole legs.
This harpist stool is of the highest quality and was most probably made by Jennens & Bettridge of Birmingham (1815-1864), the well respected papier mache manufactures, in the 1840’s. The steel rise and fall assembly was made by J Fitter also of Birmingham.
The stool is in very good overall condition, there is some wear with slight crackling to the lacquer and a repair to the seat edge, please see photo.
Due to the fact that this is an antique item and of delicate nature it's now sold as a decorative item.
