Description

An excellent Rosewood mantle Clock of small proportions.

The high quality 8 day duration single fusee movement features an anchor escapement and a pendulum fixing point for transportation requirements. The arched silvered brass dial with Roman chapters, finely made blued steel hands and engraved with the makers name and place of work, William Cribb – Southampton Row, London.

The rosewood veneered case has brass inlaid canted corners and glazed and brass bordered inspection windows to the side. The case stands on four solid rosewood bun feet and is finished with a gadrooned top and a central brass pineapple finial.

Note: William Cribb is listed as a Chronometer, Watchmaker and Clockmaker. There is a Regulator by this maker in the Virginia Museum. He died in 1876. Small mantel clocks from this period of the 19th century are now highly collectable.
