Description

A rare and impressive antique London longcase clock of unusually large proportions.

The 8 day duration five pillar movement striking the hours on a bell. The 14" arched brass dial showing both seconds and date and with Strike/Silent facility to the arch. The huge high quality mahogany case with excellent flame veneers throughout. Brass capped and reeded pillars to trunk and also to the base above a shaped double plinth. The hood with brass capped angle pillars and original sound frets. The broken arch top has a removable pagoda top with three brass finials.

Note Most London longcase clocks from this period have 12" dials so to find one that is 14" across the dial is extremely rare. The cabinet work has also been scaled upwards which results in a most majestic looking and grand Georgian longcase clock.
