An Exquisite George II Ebonised Bracket Clock By Richard Peckover c1735

Richard Peckover may have been born in 1685 in St. Giles, Cripplegate parish, London. He was active circa 1700-1754, based in Change Alley from 1735 and the Royal Exchange from 1751. He is believed to have taken over from Quare & Horseman's business in 1733 and this clock clearly has the exquisite quality one would expect to see in a clock from this esteemed workshop. With a double fusee, six pillar anchor escapement movement with silent pull quarter repeat on six bells has a most wonderfully engraved backplate depicting fine scrollwork foliage and the makers name clearly shown. Featuring a wheat ear rise and fall regulator arm and beautifully made pendulum keep it would be a shame it to display this clock in front of a mirror! I have personally overhauled the movement so that I can give our full three year guarantee for your peace of mind. The freshly silvered 6” dial hides the strike silence lever at the 9 o’clock position. The well made bell top case has been cleaned and refreshed in-house and simply looks stunning.
A rare opportunity to acquire a silent pull quarter repeat bracket clock with rise /fall regulation and silence function by this esteemed maker. The quality of one of London's finest clockmakers, Quare and Horseman. this clock is simply stunning!
