French Ormolu clock by Jean-Baptiste Delettrez, Paris. C.1875
French Ormolu mantel clock with Sevres ‘style’ inset panels. The case surmounted by a floral spray painted blue ground oval finial and flanked by artichoke gilded finials. The front with egg and dart cornice above Acanthus upper spandrel mounts and shaped inset porcelain panel decorated with Cherubs in flight below the dial. The sides with projecting D section panels painted with floral decoration. The clock standing on an elaborately deeply chased Acanthus moulded skirt base incorporating applied foliate scroll gilded mounted Toupe feet.

Enamel dial with Roman numerals supported by a gilded, repeating lotus leaf bezel with ‘blued’ steel ‘moonpoise’ hands. Eight day movement striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. The dial plate carries the signature ‘J.B.Delettrez, 62, Rue Charlot’ the back of the enamel dial is also signed ‘Frodsham’. Suggesting that Frodsham’s were the original retailers. C.1875
Jean-Baptiste Delettrez is recorded in Tardy’s’Dictionnaire Des Horogers Francais’ as working originally in Paris from Rue De Berry Au Marais in 1850 then moving to Rue Charlot in 1890
