French restauration wall clock, hand painted on a brown ground, hexagonal case with brass ball and hanging loop.

Finely chased ormolu bezel with convex glass, Enamel dial with Roman numerals, original blued steel hands and signed Horiot, Paris.

Eight day movement with outside countwheel strike and silk suspension.

The French name for this type of wall clock is ‘Oeil-De-Boeuf’ (literally Bulls Eye) c.1830

‘Dictionaire Des Horlogers Francais’ by Tardy (pg 299) lists Horiot as working from Rue St-Thomas Du Louvre in Paris from 1830-1840.
