RARE SCOTTISH, BAR TOP, SNUFF BOX - ADVERTISING BALLOCHMYLE WHISKY
A rare snuff box advertising Ballochmyle, a blended Scotch whisky popular in the Glasgow area, that would have sat on a public house bar in the late 1800s to early 1900’s.

The snuff box is made from mahogany, encased in 3/4” thick solid cork, with a Silver Plated disc on the lid engraved with “Tak A Pinch AND ASK FOR A nip of BALLOCHMYLE WHISKY”.

Ballochmyle whisky was produced by Watson & Middleton, a company formed in the 1880’s in Glasgow - the Ballochmyle brand name being registered in 1885.

The firm was acquired by Whyte & Mackay in 1958.

The snuff box is in good condition with some nibbling of the cork at the edges of the lid and some minor staining associated with age and repeated usage. As shown in pictures. The lid closes tightly and securely.

A fantastic and rare advertising piece, straight from a private house in Scotland.

Measures roughly ( in total ) 1.75" high by 3.75" deep/ wide.

A great piece to add to a Whisky advertising/ Bar or snuff box collection.
