Georgian Military Chest

DescriptionA very nice antique military iron bound pine chest / strong box , with hand painted
JM initials below the lock escutcheon ,
With 3rd and 3 letters hard to make out ,
The chest is iron bound and dovetailed jointed all sides , with blacksmith forge carrying handles that sit flush back into a hand carved recess , the strap work hinges again blacksmith forged And to outside lid there would have been 2 screw down pegs to double secure the contents of the chest The lid is completely iron bound on the edges , there’s an old London northeastern railways luggage label on the right hand side
The chest has retained most of its original Painted finish and now boasts stunning aged wear and patina and is a very nice size
