Description

George III Mahogany Deception Pembroke table in the manner of Gillows.
The rectangular top with hinged flaps, one flap being deceptive, released by a brass button to reveal a vacant interior. The two ends having faux cock-beaded drawer fronts, the whole raised by square tapered legs.

A design for the Deception table dated 1787 appears in Lindsay Boynton’s Gillow Furniture Designs 1760-1800 page 47 plate 28
