Description

This is a really handsome and very good quality Chinese rosewood and marble table.

It is Victorian and dates to the late 19th Century.
These were traditionally thought of as Jardiniere, or plant stands but they are very versatile small occasional tables. Excellent for lamps, or as Sofa end tables.

This one has a particularly strong presence. It is low and squat, and has 4 robust and deeply carved legs with ball and claw feet.
The frieze is beautifully carved with flowers and vines, and the top has a lobed border inset with well figured pink marble.

2 of the legs have had old repairs. These were professional pegged repairs, which can be seen from underneath. (See photo) The table is solid and strong. The marble is complete and undamaged.
