Description

This is a very good quality 18th century Georgian Dumb Waiter, or serving table.
It has 3 graduating tiers of shelves on a gun barrel stem and tripod base with slipper feet.

Superb original condition, with no cracks or damage.
The table dismantles on its wooden threaded stem into its component pieces, and includes 2 hand cut mahogany washers which tighten the lower shelves firmly in place.

The term 'Dumb Waiter' is unfortunate in todays language. It belies what is one of the most handsome elegant pieces of Georgian furniture design, that had real practical purpose then as it can do now.

Apart from being stylish and looking spectacular when 'dressed', they offer a really valuable addition to any dinner party arrangement. Usually positioned within easy reach of the dining table, they provide space to accommodate all the added extra's that might be required throughout the meal - wines, glasses, desert plates, cutlery, condiments etc
