Description

This is an exceptional quality antique oak partners desk.

Made of solid framed and panelled oak in the last quarter of the 19th century, it provides the users with a full bank of 9 drawers to one side and 3 drawers with cupboards on the other.

The top has 3 well aged panels of leather in very good condition.

The drawers are of dovetail joint construction and retain their original pine linings. They all run smoothly and well.
The Cupboards each retain an original removable full depth shelf.
There are no keys for the cupboards but they grip well in the closed position.

Kneehole space is comfortable - 59.5 cm high. 56 cm wide

Condition:
Excellent working condition throughout.

The handles have been replaced several times in the desks lifetime. This set are good quality cast brass bails of the type that it may originally have had.
There is some old heavy ink stain to the inside of some of the drawers, and some of the gilt tooling has worn from use on the leather.

Superb deep patination and colour throughout. Wax finish.
