This is an Arts & Crafts Sussex Chair c1875-90. The turnings are done so they simulate Bamboo following the Japanese influence after the opening of there borders in 1863 and this influence flooding Europe in the subsequent years. This Chair came from the estate of the Heals Designer Charles Gage.it is
