Description

A Chinese carved wood and gilded panel depicting the eight immortals, 26 ½” X 5 ¾” (67.5cm x 14.5cm).
Superbly carved in deep relief, from a single piece of wood, with a base colour of deep red, after which the eight figures were gilded.The figures are centred with a black surround.
Over the passage of time, perhaps a couple of hundred years plus, much of the gilding has worn away, leaving a colourful display of red, black and gold.
Minimal age-related wear adds to the character of this carving. Please study the photos, which form part of the description. Bids start at £70, postage within the UK is free. Overseas buyers will be shipped via the Ebay global programme.
