Description

This impressive Arts & Crafts oak bookcase was made by Shapland & Petter and has an arrangement of cupboards, drawers and adjustable shelves. The restrained design is given its Arts & Crafts character by the pattern of the leaded glass and the brass drop handles on the doors.

The lower lock is stamped 'S & P B' and it is stamped R2443 to the panelled back.

It measures 174cm wide, 43cm deep and 160.5cm high.

It is in very good condition having had the original finish cleaned and polished. There are a couple of watermarks on one side of the top and there is an old and largely invisible repair to one of the panelled cupboard doors. The lock to the upper doors is a replacement, as is the shelf inside the lower cupboard.
