Description

A variant of Liberty's 'Medina' ladies' writing bureau, this item is made of walnut in the Moorish style that was popular at the end of the nineteenth century. It has a fall front, that rests on the opened drawer, and a fitted interior above an arched recess. The rear also has a recessed shelf and the top has a mashrabiya panel. It bears a pair of Liberty paper labels in the drawer and dates to c.1890.

62cm wide, 93.5cm high and 41cm deep.

In good overall condition. The two short sections of the three quarter gallery are missing, as are the fabric pockets that were once tacked to either side. There is a crack below one hinge where the fall front must once have been dropped. The fabric on the desk is worn but still usable.
