Description

Made of solid oak, with turned wooden handles and chamfered edges, this desk is very much in the Cotswold School style of the Arts & Crafts movement. It has two long above two short drawers and both the sides and the back are panelled. It was made in the 1930s for a Cambridge University hall of residence, from where it has only recently been removed.

The top is 114.5cm wide by 61cm deep and it stands 76.5cm high. The kneehole is 51cm wide and 60cm high.

It is in very good condition having been cleaned and repolished. The underside of the back of the top has taken a knock and has a small piece missing, but this is not visible except when viewed from behind (see photos).
