Description

This oak table has a beautifully crafted and simple design and dates to the 1920s/30s. Two drop leaves are supported by gatelegs, the uprights and undershelf are shaped and the only ornamentation comes in the form of four diagonally wedged tenons.

It is unmarked but the attribution to the Arthur Simpson workshops comes from it being a known design (see fig. 83b in 'The Simpsons of Kendal Craftsmen in Wood 1885-1952' by Eleanor Davidson) and from the constructional methods, quality of workmanship and the nature of the figure and finish of the oak.

It measures 81.5cm wide with the leaves up (22.5cm when down), 66cm deep and 66.5cm high.

It is in very good and original condition
