Description

This simple oak desk, made by Brynmawr and inspired by the Arts & Crafts and Modernist movements, has a single pedestal of three graduated drawers and a shelf above the kneehole. The handles and plinth are ebonised and it has its original beige linoleum top.

It dates to the 1930s and was designed and manufactured by Brynmawr for the Aberdare Hall of Cardiff University, from where it was only recently removed.

The ebonised handles and plinth have worn attractively and the original lino top, though marked and split, is in perfectly usable condition and has been retained. The three drawers are very slightly out of line due to wear but not to an unsightly degree.
