Description

A fantastic quality satinwood cylinder bookcase by the London makers "Edwards & Roberts", the bookcase having a stepped moulded cornice with dentil moulding and ebony inlay, the two astragal glazed doors with the bars also inlaid with ebony opening to reveal three adjustable shelves, the bottom section having a tamber front opening to reveal a lovely fitted interior with various drawers, fitted compartments and a small cupboard in the center which includes a pull out drawer with original inkwells, the drawer fronts and panel door made out of hare wood, with a pull out pen tray with a green leather writing surface decorated with gold tooling, with one long over two short mahogany lined drawers below with original brass hardware and also inlaid with ebony, standing on four turned and fluted legs. Circa 1880.
