This is a beautiful antique sterling silver and tortoiseshell matchbox holder retailed by Mappin & Webb, London. The top cover of this handsome and heavy table matchbox holder is made of tortoiseshell, which has super colour and a lovely silver pique decoration with scrolled foliage boarder.Makers mark: SIL.d (possibly Stokes & Ireland Ltd) , Chester, 1908.
Condition: Good original condition, wear consistent with age and use. No damage or repair.
Dimensions: L: 7.5cm, H: 2.8cm, D: 5cm.
