Pair Ecclesiastic Salvaged Gothic Candle Stands

Description
A Fine Pair of Large / Tall Ecclesiastic Church or Chapel Candle StandsA wonderful and most unusual find.
Dating to around 1900 and of solid English oak construction throughout.
Of octagonal section, the stepped bases and sconces feature an alternating two-tone paint scheme, with old gilding to the columns (again, alternating with the natural, raw colour of the oak).
These columns are some 180 cms tall and have great presence! They would make a superb addition to the right interior - perhaps flanking a focal point in a room (such as a fireplace) or positioned within an entrance hall, porch, dining area or kitchen.
I think the dark and purple paint is a little later than the actual gilding. They are certainly very attractive as is and are being sold in unrestored condition, however they could be the subject of a sympathetic restoration and perhaps with a different or adjusted paint finish.
All in all a rare find and a lot which offers considerable potential.
Perfect for the interior designer or decorator seeking that something a bit different. Would fit especially well into a Victorian property or any space where there is ecclesiastic or gothic revival interest.
Not to be missed - I will not have another pair of candle sticks quite like these!
Dimensions -
Approx 180cms tall, to the top of the wooden bowl / sconce.
The brass candle holders are 2 inches in diameter (will accept a 2 inch wide candle).
Condition -
In used, unrestored, uncleaned condition. With wear, marking and old surface patina. The sconces still with much dust and candle wax. Some chipping to paint and a few marks to the oak, as shown. Could be lightly cleaned and enjoyed as is, or be the subject of a full clean / restoration / upcycle.
