A Large Antique Lalique 'Cocquilles' Pattern Platter or Footed Plate.

A very impressive example of this highly celebrated design from Rene Lalique, dating to the high Art-Deco period of the mid 1920's - early 1930's.

The 'Cocquilles' design features a series of stylised open scallop shells, faced upwards, with the four curved backs forming the foot of the platter.

This piece is of large and handsome dimensions: a full 30cms in diameter at widest point, and not to be confused with the much smaller side plates.

Wheel-etched to the centre underside reads 'R LALIQUE FRANCE' with 'no 3009'

This striking platter has a good level of opalescence and opaque 'pooling' to the thickest sections, and is particularly effective when set against a dark background, as shown.

A beautiful piece for the Lalique or art deco glass collector.

Condition:

In good overall condition. No chips or restoration. The platter appears to have been lightly used with some surface marks here and there, most notably towards the middle, as one would expect. But on the whole it remains very presentable and not heavily worn. The surface is still very clean and glossy. Many more macro photographs are available upon request.
