An outstanding and rare Art Deco period mannequin head, originally for use in a retail setting or milliners for the display of hats. Unusually, this piece is formed from cast white metal, which has been gently polished to brilliant effect.

Stunning from just about every angle, this beautifully modelled girl, with delicate nose and smiling mouth, exudes a personality of quiet optimism and serenity. She wears a superbly fashioned ‘dutch bob’ or ‘boyish bob’ hairstyle……the sculptor clearly taking inspiration from the famous ‘flapper’ or dancing girls typical of the 1920s -1930s.

This is, without question, the nicest shop display piece I’ve discovered…….and more generally quite possibly the best piece I've owned from the Art Deco period.

It would make a unique and striking display piece in an Art Deco interior or an excellent addition to a period fashion or shop-fitting collection. Alternatively, the piece could be put back into service as originally intended and would make a stand-out feature within a high-end boutique or contemporary retail setting.

The piece is suitably raised and offset on a well-patinated stepped, chamfered and canted hardwood stand.
