A rare souvenir silver penknife for the steam ship RMS Lake Champlain, by shipping firm Elder Dempster & Cos.

This lovely and scarce knife is very finely engraved to one side with a design of the above vessel and a chased inscription reading "Elder Dempster & Cos R.M.S. Lake Champlain". The other side is marked "Souvenir of Trial Trip, May 4th 1900"

(Sheffield hallmarks for Walker and Hall, 1899).

8.5 cms long (with blades retracted).

This is a very fine little penknife and represents a great addition to a penknife or shipping/nautical themed collection.

It comes complete with the original leather case, as shown.

Condition: In good order with some minor wear and surface marking to blades. Some surface discolouration to upper edge. I doubt there is a cleaner example still in existence.
