Description

An original Lloyd Loom chair, dated 1954, with original sage green paint and gold accents on the arms and back. The fabric seat has been reupholstered in a muted tapestry fabric in pinks, blues and greens on a cream background.
The Lloyd Loom process was invented in 1917 in the US, with British rights owned from 1920 by William Lusty. The unique fabric was made with paper twisted around a wire, and became extremely popular in the 1930s. This chair was made in 1954 and is stamped with the date 'Dec 54'. It would look great in a conservatory, garden room or bathroom, or maybe as an occasional chair in a bedroom.

This chair is very comfortable and sturdy, and in exceptionally good condition. As the green paint is original, the threads are separate and not painted together. There are no broken strings or repairs. There are minor marks and scuffs to the painted legs. The original paper label is present, over the stamped date.
