These 'Bar back' chairs boast some of the best graining you are likely to find on any chair. They are an American Empire chair with a certain amount of a Biedermeier look. We are advised that these are 19thC but it is our opinion that they may well be early 20thC which would explain the Biedermeier influence. This type of furniture did also tend to display this excellence in graining which again would lend influence to our age estimate. The chairs are in good overall condition but we suggest that repolishing would bring our this flame mahogany graining to its very best. They could easily go with just a clean and a rewaxing which would help the current lack lustre finish. This set of six chairs are quite petite for a bar back, so would easily sit with a six seater table in a normal dining room. Well worth a look these and unlikely to be repeated.
