Maybe about as good as one can get. A writing table / desk from circa 1900 from one of the top cabinet makers in London, Howard and Sons in Berners Street. (The company was started in the early 1800s and was really known for the classical upholstery that it produced. They did make and supply other items, this writing table being one of them. In 1901 Howard and Sons received a royal warrant and supplied many notable people). Carrying the cabinet makers stamp of course, as can been seen in the pictures this really is an impressive piece of kit. Superb detail in the turnings and still carrying the original cabinet furniture, handles, locks and castors. A very rare and handsome writing table, the sort of thing that does not come up very often. Certainly something for the decerning purchaser. The leather has been replaced and is now perfect, the wood has been re French polished so its ready to impress and go to work. Don't hesitate to phone should you wish to discuss
