This is a large antique carved veranda bench. A Ceylonese, solid teak 3 seat ornate seat, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.

Foliate decor plentiful, with striking relief carvings abundant across each surface
Square section arms stand proudly upon a carved Ath Kadha Lihini of Sri Lankan mythology

Seat edges host relief carved borders with attractive flowerheads to the corners
Fascinating shaped aprons adorn the tiered seat edge, with foliate patera and leaf motif
Standing upon prominent elephant front legs, canted and in the cabriole manner
Square section rear legs adorned with pattern carvings below a decorative panelled rear
