This is a vintage ship's log desk ornament. An English, brass and oak maritime display instrument, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1930.

Dashing nautical interest, presented for display
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Polished brass casing presents bright golden tonality
Quality oak plinth shows fine grain interest and caramel hues

Cherub Mk.III log dial mounted upon an articulated bracket
Ceramic dial set behind an opening glass porthole door
Annotated with a main log of 0-100 miles, with auxiliary dials for 1000 and 1 mile respectively

Replete with the fascinating trailing fin and hook
Extensively engraved to rear of log with the Thos. Walker maker's mark
Thomas Walker of Birmingham further noted upon the dial
T.W. Anchor trade mark engraved to each trailing fin
