This is a vintage draughtsman's instrument set. An English, brass drawing or navigation tool compendium by Henry Hughes & Son, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1940.

Lifts out to reveal a parallel drafting rule
Engraved with the H. Hughes & Son Ltd maker's mark
Compass bears the serial number 13256 and the Pheon 'broad arrow'

Finished with an unmarked nameplate to lid
Dressed with distinctive inset shield lock escutcheon — key absent
