Description

This is an antique, Victorian writing table dating to c.1870.

In fine condition and rare to find in ash, with a new, professionally fitted, inset green leather skiver, twin tooled and highlighted in gold, this writing desk displays good grain detail in the clear waxed finish.

The moulded edged top sits above a pair of frieze drawers dressed with drop handles and lock escutcheons displaying ecclesiastical overtones. Both the top and drawer fronts featuring outstanding 'ribbon figure', quarter sawn graining.

The desk top sits upon stout, baluster columns rising from splayed cabriole legs with carved toes above the original ceramic castors. Typical Victorian embellishment adding inverted finials between.

The finished back encourages centre room placement with exposed dovetails a tacit nod to the quality of this piece.

Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
