Description

This fine example of late 19th century cabinet making shows the use of rare specimen woods together with brass inlay and Sevres style porcelain plaques. It has a brass gallery to the superstructure and a mirrored central aperture, flanked on either side by a panelled cupboard door with porcelain plaques.

The frieze drawer is fitted for writing and has a further drawer on each side, all fitted with further small porcelain plaques with brass surround. Below are two open shelves. The piece is lavishly mounted in ormolu and a total of 32 porcelain panels.
