Description

A Victorian figured walnut inlaid writing slope. This charming box has floral inlay to the top with mother of pearl key hole, with working lock'n'key. It has a dual folding action to create the slope. Back section has silk padding with letter store behind.
It has a lovely pair replacement inkwells, with various sealing waxes. It has a black leather in good condition. Probably the most interesting items are large abundance of interesting Christmas/birthday and good wishes cards still stored inside, some are late Victorian through to the twenties. There is also a large selection of correspondence some dating back to 1830, which is older than the box itself, all make for a fascinating reading. As these all came with slope so I'm keeping it all together.
