A 1909 Patek Philippe Chronometro Gondolo 18K gold pocket watch. An enamel dial with Roman numerals, flanked by outer 24 hour Arabic numerals in red. A large 18K gold case with guilloche style finish. The case back is engraved with an A and J, filled with blue and red enamel. There is detailing within the enamel and the engraving, in a classical chasing style. The inner mechanism cover is engraved with retailers scripts, surrounded by 'Chronometro Gondolo, no153801 Patek Philippe & cie Geneve'. The inner area is engraved 'Fabricado expressamente, para, Gondolo & Labourian, relojoeiros, Rio De Janeiro'. This translates from Portuguese to English as 'Made expressly for, Gondolo & Labourian, watchmakers, Rio De Janeiro'. A fine quality mechanism with a particularly rare feature of solid gold wheels. This watch comes complete with a Patek Phillipe 'extract from the archives', stating the exact details of the watch and specifying that the date of manufacture was July, 6th, 1909.
