Description

Fine Swiss minute repeater chronograph in 18ct gold half hunter case.
The white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, blued steel hands and subsidiary dials for seconds and 30 minute counter signed 'S. Smith & Son Ltd. 9 Strand London W.C. 153B-135' is in excellent condition.
The half hunter case bears the sponsors mark for Samual Smith & Son Ltd with London import hall marks for 18ct gold, 1909. The sprung front cover opens when the crown is depressed and has a black enamel Roman chapter ring with cetral viewing porthole. The band with 2 push buttons for the activation of the repeater and chronograph. The back cover with a very ornate engraved monogram. The dust cover is plain with no inscriptions. The covers open to 90 degrees and the hinges are good.
The high grade stem wind, lever set Swiss movement is in excellent condition and in good working order including bthe repeater function and the chronograph. The repeater is activated by pressing the larger of the 2 buttons at the 6 0'clock position. It strikes a single gong for the hours a double gong for the quarters and a single gong for the minutes. It has a very pleasing, clear sound. The chronograph is activated by pressing the smaller of the 2 buttons at the 4 0'clock position. Pressed once starts the sweeping second hand pressed again stops the hand and pressed a third time returns the second hand to the 12 o'clock position.
