An unusual and very decorative Chinoiserie long case clock of diminutive width & depth proportions. The tall slim case having a red lacquered ground with raised gilded and painted Chinoiserie decoration in the style of the 18th C. Giles Grendey. The arched brass dial bearing the name Jam. Brogden of London (probably the case maker) with attractive spandrels, engraved Roman numerals and minute marks, matted centre and 18th C style steel pointers. The movement is of German origin and is in working order and strikes on the hour & half hour on two bells attached to the case. A very decorative and sought after piece.
