Description

A rare Trinity House tea caddy having a lighthouse named “GULL” being towed by a ship. Inlaid with various woods including boxwood, walnut, satinwood and various other stained woods. The front and back with Tunbridge Ware style tumbling block decoration with further inlay to the sides. The hinged lid opens to 2 inlaid lidded tea compartments with old foil linings. Trinity House boxes were made by lighthouse keepers while serving their time offshore to while away the time. Their nautical romantic theme have always made them very collectable and often sold to owners and Captains of the ships. Regular Trinity House boxes are relatively rare but it would be fair to say that named boxes a rare find.
