Description

A very rare rosewood Trinity House salt box. The back and sloping front inlaid with 2 sailing ships in various woods including boxwood, walnut, satinwood and stained sycamore. The hinged lid opens to the original paper lined interior and the outback with similar matching paper.
Trinity House boxes were made by lighthouse keepers while serving their time offshore to while away the time. Their nautical romantic theme have always made them very collectable and often sold to owners and Captains of the ships. Regular Trinity House boxes are relatively rare but it would be fair to say that this salt box is a rare find.
