Description

A very rare 19th Century lithyalin glass scent bottle with silver hinged lid. The lid is repousse in design and silver gilt. Inside is a fitted glass peg stopper. The lithyalin glass body is of flattened circular 'penny' form and is very tactile. Lithyalin glass is found in a variety of colours, including this variation in red. It was created in Bohemia by Friedrich Egermnann (1777-1864) and it's names derives from the Greek 'lithos' meaning stone. A superb and sought after collector's item.
