Description

An early Victorian carved and turned oak adjustable folio stand in the manner of Holland & Sons.

This usefully sized example is constructed of a carved oak base with splayed scroll legs connected by a turned and reeded stretcher. Solid oak columns rise up from the legs either side with superb gothic type carving to either side to support the base of the upper section to which are attached two lattice framed wings by hinges either side.

Both are adjustable by means of a ratchet mechanism carved into the inner side of the legs, the ratchet allowing each wing to be adjusted to the required angle independently.

Measuring Height: 109cms x Width: 91cms x Depth: 76cms, this example is little less cumbersome than most examples and could be easily incorporated into the home for its intended use or perhaps for displaying prints & pictures.
