Description

Rare Islamic Fatimid alabaster chess or gaming piece
10th Century Egypt

Medieval Islamic chess pieces are very rare and this one is even more desirable because the appearance is abstract rather than figural.

This piece is remarkable in appearance as it has the abstract reference to the head of a horse and represents the ‘Knight’.
It has a very aesthetically pleasing appearance and is very tactile.

This beautiful artefact has been authenticated by Bonhams of London who gave it a low auction estimate of £3,000-£4,000 in 2010 (documents will be provided to the purchaser).

This historical and significant Islamic work of art is in overall excellent condition. There is some minor wear and blemishes that are commensurate with the age of this antiquity. This does not detract from the overall magnificence of this ancient alabaster chess piece!

This piece is 52mm in height.

All of our ancient art is guaranteed to be as described and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Our prices include free, fully insured international shipping.

Discounts are available on multiple purchases and prices are negotiable within reason.
