Description

A wonderful 17th Century English antique oak panelled-back settle of small proportions (able to seat two individuals comfortably).
Of peg-joined construction with plain cresting rail flanked either side by plain uprights terminating in shaped finials. Below, five panels, the centre incised with a diamond and floral motif.
With shaped arms supported by turned front uprights over plank seat. Plain legs to rear.
All legs united by peripheral stretchers.
Good colour and all joints are sound.
Condition – plank seat board has been replaced at some point although constructed from period timbers. Right foot re-tipped.
