Description

A super and rare Irish antique country-made stick chair, constructed from ash, other indigenous timbers and a thick elm slab seat, circa 1800.
It is a good sturdy example and excellent colour.
These chairs are sometimes referred to as a Famine, Fool′s or Hedge chair meaning it is an indigenous Irish peasant creation constructed from those materials close to hand.
