Description

A rare find and originating from a private Norfolk collection.
Understood to have been purchased in the 1960's whilst the previous owner was on a visit to Dublin, this beautiful elm cabinet is one of the best that we have had for a long time.
With caddy top above two opening doors both with double fielded panels, each reminiscent of those found in the large aristocratic houses of the period, flanked by swags. Each side of the cabinet also features a single elongated fielded panel.
Internally, there is a single shelf and the cabinet is lined with velvet. The shelf appears to have been altered at some point to accomodate the neck of a wine bottle. We do wonder if at some point the cabinet may have been used for the storage of communion wine, possibly used as a tabernacle.
Condition - some surface wear. Traces of historic worm (inactive and long since gone). Staining to the velvet lining. This item still displays very well.
Dimensions Height 22" x Width 15" x Depth 7 1/2"
