Edwardian inlaid mahogany display bookcase
This Edwardian inlaid mahogany display cabinet was made circa 1900.
The bookcase was made in 2 parts, the top section with the glazed doors with astragals.
The doors open to allow access to the shelves.
Above the doors is the swan-neck pediment that is inlaid with delicate marquetry.
The base section that is of serpentine shape and fitted a drawer.
The bed and drawer front also is inlaid with fine marquetry work, including an urn and floral designs.
It stands on long tapering legs with spade feet joined by an inlaid platform.
Imagine the pleasure this cabinet will bring, whether you use it to display books or porcelain and collectibles. Not only is it useful for displaying books etc it also looks superb as a piece of furniture.
